Our politicians just love to tell you how well they are protecting you from the criminals and terrorists that are waiting just outside your door. Yes, these villians are keeping watch on YOU and your CHILDREN 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and if it weren't for the benevolent politicians they would victimize your every single time you stepped out of your house. At least that is what they want you to think and feel. After all, all the new legislation wouldn't be of any political advantage otherwise.
Yep, every year, they pass new laws to augment the old laws. They make things even tougher on people who have been convicted of some horrible crime. They close "loop holes" to ensure that anyone planning a crime won't go un-punished. They do all sorts of tings to help "keep you safe".
Of course the plain truth of things is that tese new and improved laws do little more than add more expenses to your already heavy tax burden. Much of the legislation is nothing more than redundant actions that do nothing at all to improve your safety. Nope, not one little bit of added protection but millions in added expense!
H.R. 4472 is the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act of 2006. It "boosts" the level of tracking for convicted sex offenders and that isn't a bad thing in itself. However, it also makes added registration verification requirements that absolutely will never help things at all. This bill requires that states change what most have done yearly to a semianual requirement. Again, on the face of things, not a bad idea. What is a bad, in fact stupid, requirement of this bill is that registered sex offenders have to submit finger prints and DNA samples EVERY SIX MONTHS.
Why is that so stupid? Well, how often does DNA change? NEVER!!!!!! Every DNA sample must go through the standard DNA testing proceedure no matter what. That means that the DNA, than NEVER changes, must be tested every six months for as long as the sex offender is alive! And how about finger prints? Do those change? They can change due to scars on the fingers and palms but it is very rare that the entire set of prints would be changed. Again, now those prints must be taken and filed ever six month for the life of a registered sex offender.
That is just one of many many examples of what your politician will raise on his or her re-election banner. It is only designed as a method of showing you just how tough on crime they are. There is no actual benefit to the general public at all.
Don't get me wrong here! The registration requirement for sex offenders is a certain deterent for some and can be a great aid to law enforcement in finding out who perpretrated a crime AFTER THE FACT. I do not advocate ending the sex offender registration at all, just that we see things as they are. You know, other things like the USA PATRIOT ACT that allows the feds to tap YOUR phone or read YOUR emails without a legitimate court warrant.
It is well past time for the general public to wake up and smell the fecal matter congress drops on you every day of every year. The law making process is controlled by a laxative called "fear".
